This is the tour we all want to do! With enough time to really experience a lot of the many parts of this fascinating country, You’ll make a broad circle along Ring Road and spend a night or two in each area of the country Snaefelsnes in the west, Skagafjordur and Akureyri in the north, the lush Sub-Arctic lake Myvatn, the East Fjords, the glacier Vatnajokull and the south coast with black sand beaches and sea stacks, before coasting back into Reykjavik. You’ll also be able to get out of the car a lot, do some day tours, enjoy some of the action that makes Iceland so much fun to visit. We’ll provide information on booking tours, which can usually be done easily from on - the - road.

Around Iceland in 15 days/14 nights - take it all in!
This is the tour we all want to do! You’ll experience a lot of this fascinating country, as you make a broad circle along Ring Road and spend a night or two in each area of the country - Snaefellsnes in the west, Skagafjordur and Akureyri in the north, the East Fjords and Vatnajokull, and the south, before coasting back into Reykjavik. You can get out of the car a lot and add on day tours for some of the action that makes Iceland so much fun.

Day 0:
Leave the US. We suggest heading right to sleep - as it’s a short night flight!
Day 1:
Welcome to Iceland! Explore the Reykjanes Peninsula and soak in the Blue Lagoon. Overnight in Reykjavík.
Day 2:
North along Hvalfjordur, explore saga lands with Langjokull glacier, waterfalls, historic sites. Two nights here.
Day 3:
Snæfellsnes Peninsula with it’s maritime villages, bird cliffs, glaciers on volcanoes, whales and shark.
Day 4:
North to Skagafjörður - the Valley of Horses, with lots of history and hiking, 2 nights in North West Iceland.
Day 5:
Visit the Turf Farm Museum at Glaumbaer, historic site at Hólar, go rafting or horseback riding.
Day 6:
Sample Akureyri’s charms, with great hiking, botanical garden, cathedral, museum. Spend the night here.
Day 7:
Natural wonders of Lake Mývatn, the hot springs at Námaskarð and the lava fields at Krafla. 2 nights here. Day 8: Drive around Tjörnes Peninsula with its interesting birds, perhaps whales from Husavik, perhaps Dettifoss.
Day 9:
Across lava fields to Egilsstadir. See the forests at Hallormsstaður, drive to East Fjords. Overnight near Hofn.
Day 10:
The glacial lagoon Jokulsarlon, and then Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull. Two nights near Skaftafell.
Day 11:
Full day to explore Skaftafell National Park, and take in headland at Ingolshofdi.
Day 12:
Head west - see Vik. Explore Thjorsardalur valley, the Viking farm at Stong, two nights in South Iceland.
Day 13:
Impressive natural sights - Gullfoss Geysir and Thingvellir, rafting, riding, caving, snorkeling!
Day 14:
Head back to the capital, for great restaurants, shops, fab nightlife if you dare! Overnight in Reykjavík.
Day 15:
Relax, enjoy museums, shops, pools or the Blue Lagoon. Drop car at airport and hop on the plane for home!

Prices
At Iceland Adventure and Horses North, we make our prices as complete and clear as possible. Our packages include flights with all fuel surcharges, and departure taxes, any necessary airport transfers or international flights for your tour, a choice of car of a chosen size with unlimited miles, and VAT, hotels with private bath for all nights of your tour, breakfast every day, a good road map and detailed itinerary with lots of information on what to see and do, as well as the services of our local representative in Iceland, should any need arise.

Not included are travel insurance, meals other than breakfast, gasoline, tolls, or any day tours or activities - although we’re happy to work with you to choose and book these - or we can make it easy for you to book them once you’re in Iceland. Also, not included is Collision Damage Waiver Insurance (CDW) - we urge you to check with your credit card company to see if they provide this for car rentals in Iceland. Otherwise, it can be purchased once in Iceland.

Most of our driving tours can have days added and can be customized if you have particular interests - this may incur further costs.

For 2010, these driving tours offer a broader array of options in accommodations. Now you can choose between accommodations in rooms categorized as Standard, Comfort or Superior. All rooms are clean and warm, have private baths, and most have TV and telephone. The rooms vary in things like size, ammenities, and view.

Standard accommodations are in simple hotels, farm houses and guesthouses
Comfort level rooms tend to be larger, more ammenities, in best Tourist class (3+stars) hotels
Superior rooms are at the best available hotels or the best available rooms

Prices here are per person/double occupancy - ask about other occupancy, cars and tour length. Car prices are w/manual transmission. Many models available in automatic for a bit more.
